The Brian G. Nichols courthouse shooting case spiraled further into delay Thursday. Hours after the Georgia Public Defender Standards Council voted to tell the judge overseeing the trial that it cannot comply with his order to continue funding Nichols' defense, the judge recused from hearing arguments on the funding issue. At issue was the judge's order that the council pay more than $150,000 in back fees and expenses and confirm that it would fund the defense for the remainder of the case.
