The first half of 2007 saw several developments in E.U. merger law and policy that will impact the European Commission's assessment of mergers under the E.U. Merger Regulation. The commission has launched a number of initiatives that aren't legally binding, but nevertheless are significant due to the commission's authority over E.U. mergers. Attorneys Catriona Hatton and Janet L. McDavid describe some important issues addressed in those initiatives, including outsourcing and "antitrust warehousing."
