First Deputy Chief Administrative Judge Ann T. Pfau has been named chief administrative judge of New York's $2.4 billion-a-year court system, Chief Judge Judith S. Kaye announced. Pfau is the first woman to hold the post. She will be in charge of a court system that includes 3,600 state and locally funded judges and 15,000 other employees. Pfau succeeds Justice Jonathan Lippman, who last week was appointed by Gov. Eliot Spitzer as presiding justice of the Appellate Division, 1st Department.
