Ex-Interior Secretary's Former Girlfriend Is Latest Target in Abramoff Probe

Italia Federici, one-time girlfriend of a convicted former senior Interior Department official, is a target of the influence-peddling investigation into former lobbyist Jack Abramoff's activities, according to documents obtained by Legal Times. Federici was central to charges against J. Steven Griles, the former Interior deputy secretary who pleaded guilty to misleading investigators about his relationship with Abramoff, the then-Greenberg Traurig lobbyist who has pleaded guilty to several felonies.
