In an opening brief to a California appellate court, Dudley's use of a search-and-replace command inserted "sea sponge" instead of the legal term "sua sponte," leading to such classic statements as, "It is well settled that a trial court must instruct sea sponge on any defense, including a mistake of fact defense."
