Accused of ethics breaches for accepting a fee that his partners claim was partly theirs, a New Jersey litigator says pocketing the $50,000 was consistent with firm practices. David Gross, who was pushed out of Budd Larner after 43 years, is also accused of trying to cover his tracks by instructing his then-secretary to destroy a letter to the client stating he wanted the check marked personal and confidential and made out to him. Gross suggests her claim is fueled by revenge.
