Dechert has added a corporate partner to its Hong Kong office.
David Cho, formerly a Hong Kong partner with Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe, specializes in cross-border mergers and acquisitions, financings, and capital markets transactions, with a focus on the telecommunications, banking and life sciences industries.
Cho is advising Korean solar wafer manufacturer Nexolon Co., Ltd. in a dispute arising from its joint venture with the Philippines's First Philec Solar. In 2009, Cho also led an Orrick team that advised Korean mobile carrier SK Telecom Co., Ltd. on its $1.3 billion sale of a 3.7 percent stake in China Unicom (Hong Kong) Ltd. back to the latter's parent company.
Cho joined Orrick as a counsel in 2007 and was promoted to partner in 2009. Prior to joining Orrick, Cho was an associate in the Hong Kong offices of Debevoise & Plimpton and Skadden, Arps Slate, Meagher & Flom.
According to the firm's website, Philadelphia-based Dechert has 14 lawyers in its Hong Kong office, half of whom are partners.
