Mayer Brown JSM has recruited two corporate partners to its Beijing office.
Henry Wang is joining Mayer Brown from Dechert, where he was managing partner of the Beijing office. Billy Au, formerly of counsel in the Hong Kong office of Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe, is also joining Mayer Brown as a partner in Beijing.
Wang will become head of the China investments practice for Mayer Brown. He focuses on merger and acquisitions, joint ventures and corporate finance deals. Prior to joining Dechert in 2008, Wang was a Beijing partner at DLA Piper. Before joining DLA Piper in 2006, he was the Shanghai-based general counsel for the China operations of General Motors Corp.
Au advises on capital markets, mergers and acquisitions and corporate finance transactions. He joined Orrick in 2010 from Herbert Smith, where he was also of counsel.
With the two new partners, Mayer Brown will have 27 lawyers in its Beijing office, six of whom are partners. The firm, which combined with Hong Kong's Johnson Stokes & Master in 2008, also has China offices in Shanghai and Guangzhou.
