Plaintiffs lawyers and defense counsel are squaring off over the location for consolidating scores of oil spill lawsuits. The oil spill disaster has spawned cases in states all along the Gulf of Mexico, but so far the choice for multidistrict litigation is focusing on Houston and New Orleans. BP PLC is seeking to consolidate the 100-plus suits in the oil-friendly Southern District of Texas, while plaintiffs lawyers argue that past multidistrict litigation has moved along quickly in the Eastern District of Louisiana.
