Ropes & Gray filed a motion on Tuesday to dismiss a lawsuit by New York-based Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory, which accuses Ropes & Gray and former law firm partner Matthew Vincent of malpractice. Cold Spring claims it has lost millions of dollars in potential licensing and royalty revenue, and seeks $37.5 million to $82.5 million, plus punitive damages, due to Vincent's alleged plagiarizing of lengthy passages from a rival researcher's patent application for use in an unsuccessful Cold Spring patent application.
