Tax attorneys are seeing their roles expand because of valuable tax incentives for renewable energy projects provided by the federal economic stimulus package. Tax lawyers say that with incentives available to provide up to 30 percent of a green-energy project's financing, their advice has become so crucial that they often find themselves taking the lead role. Gregory Broome, a Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati partner, says such financing work now takes up about 35 percent of his practice.
