Newark, N.J.-based Sills Cummis & Gross is growing across the Hudson River, thanks to a merger with New York-based Silverberg Stonehill Goldsmith & Haber.
Silverberg Stonehill's nine attorneys have moved into Sills Cummis' New York office, bringing its attorney head count there to 30, and 165 throughout all three of the firm's offices.
Sills Cummis managing partner R. Max Crane said the merge is another step in the firm's strategy of expansion in New York.
"Silverberg complements our practice areas with a broad-based general civil practice and noted expertise in corporate and commercial finance law, as well as litigation," said Sills Cummis Chairman Steven E. Gross.
The Silverberg Stonehill attorneys joining Sills Cummis are Michael B. Goldsmith, Harvey T. Haber, Jay L. Silverberg, Kenneth R. Schacter, David F. Segal, Robert Stonehill, Marc D. Leve, Joseph C. Walsh and Lori K. Sapir.
"After several discussions, we found that our approach to the practice of law was quite similar, and that the synergy between both firms made this merger an easy decision," said Silverberg Stonehill partner Goldsmith. "We have found Sills consistently provides extremely high-quality legal work while always being sensitive to clients' needs."
