A former associate with Forman Perry Watkins Krutz & Tardy in Houston is suing the firm, alleging she was fired in 2005 after reporting that a partner in the firm told her not to hire any more African-American employees. Sandra Perez Ard alleges that Deborah Newman stated that she did not want to be a "minority in [her] own firm." Newman, now the managing partner of Newman Favaloro & Troegel in Houston, denies Ard's allegation, calling it a "travesty."
