After spending nearly five years at home raising her daughters, lawyer Yuka Sugar was eager to return to work, but she couldn't take the first step. "I realized I was just fearing the change," she says. The nudge she needed came from a Hastings College of the Law program. The eight-week seminar brings together lawyers who have been absent from the profession a year or more. Members discuss job-hunting tips and interviewing techniques as well as the nuts and bolts of negotiating flexible work arrangements.
