Apple Trade Secrets Case Under Close Examination in Court

A California state appeals court expressed serious concerns last week with Apple's quest to find out who leaked trade secret information to blogs. Apple wants to force the blogs to reveal who gave them secret data on a new digital music device. But the blog owners argue they are journalists and should be protected from revealing confidential sources. In addition to a slew of First Amendment issues raised by this case, the justices also questioned if the "Asteroid" product is, in fact, a trade secret.
