Wiccan Lawsuit May Spell Toil, Taxes and Trouble for Fla. Justices

The Florida Supreme Court has agreed to hear a Wiccan group's constitutional challenge to a Florida law exempting sales taxes on religious books. The lower appellate court opinion reveals the nonprofit group was exempted from paying the tax on copies of the Bible and the Quran, but forced to pay it on the Satanic Bible and the Witches Bible. The question before the court is whether a tax-exempt organization has a right to challenge an exemption that benefits them.
