John Kerry's stated purpose for being in Philadelphia Thursday was to address delegates at the annual NAACP convention. However, the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee managed to leave town with more than $500,000 in his pocket, largely courtesy of the local legal community. About half the contributors at the Kerry gathering were trial lawyers, but also attending were corporate lawyers, business leaders and doctors. Yes, doctors and trial lawyers in the same room!
