Within two weeks, three Connecticut juries rendered medical malpractice verdicts of $1.13 million, $2.2 million and $10 million, respectively. But what would appear to be the largest -- the $10 million won Nov. 7 by a Bridgeport attorney -- may actually be the smallest, if plaintiffs' lawyers adhere to their traditional practice of limiting collections to malpractice policy limits. For the doctor in the Bridgeport case, the limit was $1 million.
