Two months shy of his law school graduation, Michael R. Moebes sat in a Decatur, Ga., coffee shop working on a paper about retirement planning. Then his cell phone rang -- Moebes, who was in the Tennessee Air National Guard, had been called to war. Graduation, the bar exam and starting his career as a lawyer would have to wait.
