Can Cooley Godward Avoid Blame in Girl's Death?

Next week, a jury will be asked to determine whether former Cooley Godward associate Jane Wagner is liable for the death of a teenager struck by her car; whether Wagner caused the death because she was talking via cell phone while driving; and whether she was working for Cooley while on the phone -- a point that could let plaintiffs into the firm's deep pockets. Attorneys for the girl's family, who seek $25 million, must travel a long road to establish liability.
