The U.S. Supreme Court appeared poised Wednesday to strike down Texas' anti-sodomy statute, setting the stage for a landmark ruling on the status of gays in American society. In sharp contrast to the tone of the questioning in 1986, the last time the high court considered such laws, "the attitude in the room, the acceptance of homosexuality as a part of the human condition, seemed real," said Jenner & Block's Paul Smith.
