Man Posing as Lawyer Gets Six-Year Sentence for Fraud

Jonathan David Ghertler needed only a telephone and a little moxie to impersonate partners at six large law firms on his way to defrauding the firms of more than $200,000. But on Thursday, a federal judge in New York sentenced the pretend lawyer from Florida to serve almost six years in prison. Ghertler swindled such powerhouse firms as Arnold & Porter; Heller Ehrman White & McAuliffe; and Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom.
