Berwin Leighton Paisner has entered into an alliance with Indonesian law firm Mataram Partners.
The eight-lawyer Mataram Partners is led by senior partner Andi Zulfikar. The firm handles both civil and commercial law matters, but has a particular focus in the mining sector.
London-based Berwin Leighton Paisner currently has 17 lawyers covering Indonesia out of its Singapore office, where it handles most of its Southeast Asian work. It joins a number of international firms to have announced alliances with Indonesian firms over the past year, including Clifford Chance, Squire Sanders, Taylor Wessing and Clyde & Co.
Last month, Berwin Leighton Paisner formed a similar alliance with Myanmar law firm Legal Network Consultants as a way to tap into opportunities in the newly opened country.
Berwin Leighton Paisner has about 800 lawyers in 12 offices worldwide.
