Shearman & Sterling has added a Singapore partner.
Anthony Patten joins the firm’s project development and finance team from Allens, where he was the Perth-based head of the Asia Pacific oil and gas practice.
He focuses particularly on the upstream oil and gas and liquefied natural gas sectors and typically acts for oil and gas companies, trading companies and utilities.
Patten joined Allens in 2011 from Ashurst’s London office, which he joined as an associate in 2006 and where he became a partner two years later. Prior to that, he worked as an in-house counsel for Royal Dutch Shell Plc. in London and Dubai for six years. Patten began his legal career in Allens’ Melbourne office.
The addition of Patten brings Shearman’s Singapore headcount to 17 lawyers, including four partners, according to the firm’s website. The firm has about 850 lawyers in 18 offices worldwide.
