King & Wood Mallesons has recruited a tax partner in Sydney.

Timothy Sherman is actually rejoining the firm after a three-year stint as a partner in Baker & McKenzie’s Sydney office. From 2000 to 2009, he was a partner with the former Mallesons Stephen Jaques, which merged with China’s King & Wood last year.

Sherman advises clients on tax aspects of mergers and acquisitions, private equity, capital raisings, and corporate restructuring. He was part of the Baker & McKenzie team that advised private equity giant Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co. on the $4.1 billion sale of its stake in Seven Media Group to West Australian Newspapers Holdings Ltd. in 2011.

Sherman worked at audit firm KPMG before joining Mallesons in Melbourne in 2000. He relocated to London in 2003 to help build the firm’s U.K. tax practice and then moved to Mallesons’ Sydney office in 2006.

There are 333 lawyers, including 72 partners, working in King & Wood Mallesons’ Sydney office. The firm employs 1,800 lawyers across 21 offices, mainly in Australia and China.
