While Republican and Democratic members of the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee differ on a great number of issues, they came together on two items on March 27 of interest to Texas lawyers: approval of Gregg Costa’s nomination to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit and a willingness to pass a bipartisan patent reform bill.

On a voice vote, the Judiciary Committee voted to approve Costa’s nomination, putting President Barack Obama’s first Texas nominee for the Fifth Circuit one step closer to full Senate confirmation.
