A Miami judge has a ruled a jury will decide whether Paulina Rubio, Latin pop star and judge on the television’s “X Factor,” is liable for missing a concert in Tunja, Colombia.
Miami businessman Carlos Gutierrez and several Colombian government organizations claim they lost hundreds of thousands of dollars when Rubio missed her scheduled flight and did not show up for a concert scheduled Aug. 31, 2010.
While her band and manager appeared, Rubio was a no-show, the complaint reads. Miami attorney Jay Levy is representing all of the plaintiffs.
Rubio contended she is not personally liable, but Miami-Dade Circuit Judge Abby Cynamon ruled this month that’s a question for the jury. No trial date has been set.
A Miami-Dade jury awarded $7.3 million last month to a concert promoter against Puerto Rican star Yankee Daddy and others for a canceled concert tour of Argentina.
