Cameron Findlay Leaving Medtronic for ADM GC Role
Archer Daniels Midland Company, the agricultural conglomerate, will soon get its second general counsel in less than a year, having lured Medtronic Inc. GC Cameron Findlay from the world’s largest medical device manufacturer and into ADM’s legal department.
Findlay joined Medtronic in 2009 and has earned accolades for taming litigation, building staff morale, and decreasing legal spend during his tenure. Last year, Medtronic was selected as a winner in Corporate Counsel’s Best Legal Departments competition. The department was also named a 2012 Value Champion by the Association of Corporate Counsel.
Before he joined Medtronic, Findlay served as the general counsel of the insurance and risk management firm Aon Corporation from 2003 to 2009. He has held several positions in government, including as a deputy assistant to President George H. W. Bush, and as a deputy secretary at the U.S. Department of Labor. Findlay is a former firm partner at what is now Sidley Austin.
A Harvard Law School graduate, Findlay also clerked for Justice Antonin Scalia at the U.S. Supreme Court. He holds a B.A. from Northwestern University and an M.A. from Oxford University.
