Stephen Johnson to Oversee AMR Corp. Legal Affairs

The latest announcement from the cockpit of AMR Corporation, the parent company of American Airlines Inc. and US Airways Group Inc., has a new crew in the C-suiteand Stephen Johnson overseeing the newly merged companys corporate and legal affairs.
This week AMR introduced a new board of directors and senior leadership team to fly under the leadership of CEO Doug Parker. One key member of the formation is Johnson, who was named executive vice president for corporate affairs, a position that includes responsibility for corporate and legal affairs, government and regulatory affairs, labor relations, and AMRs real estate.
The new EVPs main project will be the one shared by the entire executive team: completing the merger between American Airlines and US Air. "As we bring the restructuring to a close, the new American is strong, renewed, and positioned for a successful merger, AMR Chairman Tom Horton said in a statement from the airline.
Johnson has been with the airline since 2009, before which he was a partner at private equity firm Indigo Partners and served as senior vice president and general counsel at GPA Group, which was acquired by GE Capital Aviation Services Ltd.
He has a B.A. in economics from California State University, Sacramento, and a J.D. from the University of California, Berkeley.
