In-House Counsel Join LGBT Bar Foundation Board
Three in-house counsel from notable companies have been appointed to the National Lesbian Gay Bisexual and Transgender Bar Foundation board of directors.
This week, Wesley Bizzell, assistant general counsel for government affairs at Altria Client Services Inc.; Theodore Furman, a vice president in the GlaxoSmithKline legal department; and Sharon Zealey, the chief ethics and compliance officer for The Coca-Cola Company, all joined the foundations board as at-large members.
The LGBT Bar Foundation is the charitable 501(c)(6) arm of the membership-driven National LGBT Bar Association, and engages in educational and advocacy pursuits on behalf of LGBT attorneys. Bizzell, Furman, and Zealey join the foundations seven-member board of directors, which is led by board president Todd Brown, who is the managing attorney of several Liberty Mutual Insurance Group Staff Counsel offices in Massachusetts and Rhode Island.
In a statement from the LGBT Bar Association, Executive Director DArcy Kemnitz said of the appointments, Thanks to the diverse backgrounds of our new board members, the LGBT Bar is in a unique position to promote equality within the legal profession.
