What Do You Think About the Trend Away from Big Law?

Corporate Counsel

04-10-2012

In the April 2012 print edition of Corporate Counsel, we published an article by Dana Olsen titled “Bye-Bye Big Firm,” which examined the current trend of legal departments moving away from always hiring large firms and toward smaller ones. “Move over, Big Law. Small Law is in,” Osen writes. “And the trend has proven to be more than a temporary reaction to the 2008 financial meltdown. Four years later, corporate lawyers are flocking to small firms.”

The story seems to have touched a nerve, and a lot of readers have shown an interest in the topic. Now that we’ve had our say on the big-to-small shift, we’d like to hear from you.

Please visit the comments section below and tell us:

  • Have you moved any of your work from a large firm to a small shop?
  • Is this a good or bad thing for the legal profession?
  • Do you think this trend is here to stay?
  • Have you noticed any other changes in the law firm landscape?

We’ve recently upgraded the CorpCounsel.com comments system so it’s easier to use; you can also say your piece in our Linked In group, which currently has more than 2,700 members. Either way, we’re always happy to hear from CorpCounsel readers and look forward to your messages and comments.
