In January 2009 Corporate Counsel ran a cover story called “Passage to India” that asked, “Will this be the year that legal offshoring breaks through?” Legal process outsourcing seemed to be picking up steam. Big companies like Microsoft Corporation were shipping more and more work to India. And we wondered if the economic downturn would convince the sideline watchers to jump in.
