Global health-care company Merck, known as MSD outside of the United States and Canada, is doing some succession planning. It’s announced the future appointment of Michael Holston, now the chief ethics and compliance officer, as general counsel in July 2015. He will be taking over from Bruce Kuhlik when Kuhlik retires next summer. During the yearlong transition, Holston will remain in his role but will also oversee Merck’s communications, policy and security organizations beginning this July.
“As our chief compliance officer for the past two years, Mike has advanced the function and quickly become a valued member of our executive team. I look forward to continuing to benefit from his insightful advice, deep experience and active engagement on strategic and operational issues in the key role of Merck’s general counsel,” said Kenneth Frazier, Merck’s chairman and CEO.
