GI Partners, a middle-market private equity firm with more than $10 billion in capital commitments, announced the hiring of David Smolen as general counsel and chief compliance officer today. Based at the firm’s Menlo Park headquarters in California, Smolen will be responsible for providing legal support, advice and guidance to GI on all legal and regulatory matters.
“As we continue to grow, David will play a key role in spearheading our legal and compliance activities,” said Rick Magnuson, GI’s founder and executive managing director, in a statement. “His joining will enable GI to maintain our firm’s high compliance standards and guide us through today’s changing regulatory environment,” he said.
