Seyfarth Shaw and two lawyers settled a $10 million legal malpractice suit filed by a former client who alleged the defendants’ work on a lawsuit that ended with a $10 million judgment against him was “egregiously bad.”

On May 30, plaintiff James C. Stewart filed a motion to dismiss with prejudice all claims against defendants Seyfarth Shaw, Houston partner Emma Mata, and former Houston partner David Waddell. On May 31, Judge Michael Gomez of the 129th District Court in Houston signed a final order granting the motion and ordering that all claims between the parties be dismissed with prejudice.
