Deacons has hired a partner to lead its China and Hong Kong tax practice.

Lee Travis Benjamin joins the Hong Kong-based firm from Baker & McKenzie, where he was a special counsel.

Benjamin advises on tax matters in capital markets transactions, mergers and acquisitions, restructurings, and fund formations. In addition to his advisory work, he also acts for clients on tax disputes and related litigation.

Benjamin joined Baker & McKenzie’s Hong Kong team in 2006, and before that spent four years at big four tax firm KPMG in Hong Kong and Melbourne.

Deacons has about 200 lawyers, including 53 partners, in offices in Hong Kong, Guangzhou, Shanghai, and Beijing.
