Bankrupt Coudert Brothers continued to have a property interest in client matters on and after the date the firm was dissolved, Southern District Judge Colleen McMahon (See Profile) ruled yesterday.
Granting partial summary judgment for Development Specialists Inc. (DSI), the administrator for Coudert’s estate against Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld; Arent Fox; Dorsey & Whitney; Dechert and six other firms that hired former Coudert attorneys, McMahon said the pending but incomplete client matters were “assets” the former Coudert partners have a duty to account for.
