Gilbert + Tobin has added a Melbourne partner.
Craig Semple was previously a mergers and acquisitions partner with King & Wood Mallesons. He will start at Gilbert + Tobin at the beginning of next year.
Last month, Semple was advising wealth management company The Trust Co. on a $224.3 million takeover offer from a competitor Perpetual Ltd. Earlier this year, he also acted for Melbourne IT, an Australian domain name registration company, on the $157 million sale of its digital brands services division to U.S.-based Corporation Services Co.
Semple first joined the former Mallesons Stephen Jaques since 1994, becoming a partner in 2002. He took a leave of absence from the firm between 2003 and 2005 to serve as capital markets and corporate advisory general counsel for the National Australia Bank.
Gilbert + Tobin employs more than 300 lawyers across three offices in Melbourne, Sydney, and Perth.
