Baker & McKenzie has launched in South Africa with the hire of Dewey & LeBoeuf's 31-strong Johannesburg office. The eight-partner team, which joined Dewey earlier this year from local firm Werksmans, gives Baker & McKenzie its second Africa base and will be the "linchpin" for further expansion on the continent, according to the firm's chairman.
