Geely Holding Group Co. Ltd., the Chinese car company that acquired Sweden’s Volvo Car Corp. in 2010, has hired a new chief legal counsel to oversee its international legal matters.
Kenneth Tung is joining Hangzhou-based Geely from legal consultancy Lex Sigma Ltd. From 2010 until 2012, he was China legal head for PepsiCo. Prior to that, he served as Asia Pacific legal director for the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co.
Tung will advise on Geely’s interactions with Volvo. The Chinese company acquired the Swedish carmaker for $1.8 billion but the latter continues to be separately managed out of its Gothenburg headquarters.
In addition to his positions at Pepsi and Goodyear, Tung has also held China in-house roles with Eastman Kodak Co. and Honeywell International Inc. He began his legal career with now-defunct Coudert Brothers.
