News Corporation has turned to its longtime lawyers from Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom for outside counsel on a plan under which Rupert Murdoch’s $60 billion media empire will be split into two publicly traded companies.

Howard Ellin, global cohead of Skadden’s corporate transactions and M&A practice, and M&A partner Lou Kling, chairman of the firm’s financial oversight and audit committee, are heading up a team advising New York–based News Corp. that also includes M&A partner Brandon Van Dyke and tax partner Steven Matays. All four are based in New York.
