Hogan Lovells has hired an Asia-focused antitrust partner in its Washington, D.C., office.

Andrew Lee joins the firm from Steptoe & Johnson LLP, where he was a partner helping clients defend cartel claims and where he navigated merger investigations by the Federal Trade Commission and the Department of Justice. Fluent in Korean, Lee’s practice focuses on Korean and Japanese companies.

Lee joined Steptoe in 2012 from White & Case, where he was an associate. Before that, he was a trial attorney for the FTC.

Suyong Kim, the London-based global co-head of Hogan Lovells’ antitrust practice, said Lee’s hire will help with the firm’s strategy of increasing its client base in Asia. More companies in Korea and Japan are facing antitrust enforcement actions by the European Union and U.S. authorities.

Hogan Lovells now has eight dedicated antitrust lawyers working out of the firm’s Hong Kong and mainland China offices. The team is led by Beijing partner Adrian Emch.
