Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom has hired a Tokyo partner from Morrison & Foerster.

Kenji Taneda advises Japanese companies on equity and debt listings and public and private mergers and acquisitions. In 2014, he was part of MoFo’s team advising Softbank Corp. in Chinese ecommerce company Alibaba Group Holding Ltd.’s $25 billion initial public offering on the New York Stock Exchange. He had also served as U.S. counsel on Japan Airlines’ $8.5 billion IPO in 2012.

Taneda joined MoFo in 2013 as a partner from Sullivan & Cromwell where he was Tokyo-based special counsel. He joined Sullivan & Cromwell in 2004.

Skadden now has 10 lawyers in Tokyo, including three partners. Globally, the firm has 1,700 in 23 offices.
