Any number of recent headlines would suggest the tensions between Millennials and Baby Boomers in the workplace are more explosive than your average Fourth of July celebration. But a recent study from Workfront suggests that both generations struggle with work-life balance, just in their own unique ways.
Millennials, defined by the study as those born between 1980 and 2000, report they’re okay with answering urgent work emails during family meals, or at least 52 percent of them are. Baby Boomers, or those born between 1946 and 1964, don’t think that’s kosher—only 23 percent of them said it’s acceptable behavior. Both generations, however, were similar when it came to whether these emails or texts have ruined a family dinner: 56 percent of Millennials say it’s happened, and 59 percent of Boomers agreed.
