The beleaguered University of Virginia on Tuesday turned to a “multidisciplinary team” from O’Melveny & Myers to serve as independent counsel and investigate the problem and handling of sexual violence on the campus.
In a letter to the university leadership, Cynthia Hudson, Virginia chief deputy attorney general, said the O’Melveny team will include former acting Solicitor General Walter Dellinger, former associate White House counsel and Cabinet secretary Danielle Gray, both from the Washington office, and Los Angeles partner Apalla Chopra, an education and employment law expert. Gray was member of a White House task force on protecting students from sexual assault.
