Chinese firm Broad & Bright Law Firm is opening offices in Hong Kong and Guangzhou.
The Beijing-based firm launched its first international office in Hong Kong in association with seven-lawyer local boutique CFN Lawyers, which focuses on corporate transactions and regulatory matters.
Broad & Bright Shanghai partners Philips Ding and Keith Yuan and Beijing partner Ji Jun will all spend time in Hong Kong, while three China-qualified associates will staff the office permanently. The Hong Kong team will largely do capital markets work.
Meanwhile, the firm is also planning to open in Guangzhou, with approval from Chinese authorities expected by the end of this month. Guangzhou will be Broad & Bright’s third office in China, in addition to Beijing and Shanghai. Partner Dong Hui, a Japanese law specialist, will relocate from Shanghai and oversee a team of ten lawyers. The office will assist Japanese clients doing business in southern China.
Broad & Bright said it wanted to fill a gap in its coverage of southern China given demand from clients that the firm have a presence there.
Once the Guangzhou office is open, Broad & Bright will have 100 lawyers in four offices.
