Southeast Asian firm ZICOlaw has hired a new managing partner in Yangon and expanded its network into Laos.

Myanmar-qualified Saw Yu Win joins from big four accounting firm KPMG, where she was a Yangon-based associate director.

Specializing in foreign investment into the mining, energy and telecommunication sectors, Win had spent a year as senior counsel with Baker & McKenzie in Bangkok before moving to KPMG. Prior to that she worked 15 years at local firm Myanmar Thanlwin Legal Services Ltd., an affiliate of Southeast Asian firm DFDL.

Former Yangon managing partner Win Naing has stepped down and is leaving ZICOlaw at the end of the month. The firm declined to comment on where he’s going next.

At the same time, ZICOlaw has also formed an alliance with three-lawyer Vientiane Law Co. Ltd. Founded in 2009 by managing partner Viengsavanh Phanthaly, Vientiane Law specializes in corporate transactions and commercial litigation. Phanthaly previously worked for DFDL.

Kuala Lumpur-based ZICOlaw has 173 lawyers, including 74 partners, in 14 offices in Southeast Asia and Australia.
