HWL Ebsworth is adding an Adelaide office through the acquisition of local firm Kelly & Co.
The two firms will merge on July 1, pending regulatory approval.
In a statement, HWL said the addition of an Adelaide office will allow the firm to better serve clients that have a presence in South Australia. The firm said Kelly & Co lawyers would contribute expertise in mergers and acquisitions, intellectual property, and energy and resources as a result of the move.
Only 14 of Kelly & Co’s 16 partners will be participating in the merger, but an HWL spokesman said he had no information about the two partners not coming aboard.
Following the addition of Kelly & Co, HWL Ebsworth will have 612 lawyers, including 187 partners, in seven offices in Australia.
