Weil, Gotshal & Manges has added an investment funds partner in Hong Kong.

Albert Cho was previously a partner at Kirkland & Ellis. He helped launch Kirkland’s Asia-based private equity practice when he transferred from New York in early 2009. He has advised on the formation of buyout, growth and venture capital funds across the region, especially in Korea.

Cho joined Kirkland as an associate in 2007 and was promoted to partner the following year. Before that, he worked at the former Dewey Ballantine, Willkie Farr & Gallagher and Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman.

Weil’s Hong Kong office now has 22 lawyers, including six partners, according to its website. The firm has about 1,200 lawyers in 21 offices worldwide.
