Cetera Financial Group announced today that its registered investment advisor, Cetera Investment Management, has launched an Active Exchange Traded Funds Research Select List available to Cetera-affiliated professionals.

CIM’s list features 50 active ETFs across 26 equity, fixed income and alternative asset classes, providing Cetera financial professionals with a vetted list of recommendations in the rapidly growing ETF investment segment, the firm said.

“We are proud to become one of only a handful of firms offering an active ETF recommended list to help educate our advisors about this growing investment structure,” Gene Goldman, the chief investment officer of Cetera Investment Management, said in a statement.

The firm had no immediate comment on how the funds were chosen.

As of April, overall ETF assets have grown to more than $8.9 trillion, and of the 3,605 ETFs available in the Morningstar database today, 40% are listed as active, the firm noted.

While around 350 active ETFs existed in 2019, when the Securities and Exchange Commission removed a key barrier to fund launches, that number climbed to almost 1,400 in 2023, Cetera said.

With more than 12,000 financial professionals, Cetera oversees more than $475 billion in assets under administration and $190 billion in assets under management, as of Dec. 20.
